' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN, COLLIN
COUNTY, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING
CHAPTER 9, SECTION 9-137(b), BY ADDING SUBSECTION (24) FOR PRESTON
ELEMENTARTY SCHOOL; PROVIDING FOR A REPEALING CLAUSE;
PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALLEN,
COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Code of Ordinances of the City of Allen, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended by
amending Chapter 9, Section 9-137(b) by adding subsection (24) for Preston Elementary School, to read as follows:
"Sec. 9-137. — School zones; signs.
(b) In accordance with the recommendations of the Traffic Engineer, the following designated locations,
measured from centerline of roadway to centerline of roadway, and areas are declared to be school
' zones and the maximum speed limit for all motor vehicles operated within such areas and locations and
on such streets on school days, when either a flashing warning signal is in operation, or when
appropriate signs are in place and conspicuous shall be as follows:
(24) Preston Elementary School: Twenty (20) utiles per hour.
a. Baugh Drive from two hundred (200) feet east of Hilliard Drive to Chelsea Boulevard
until the date the city has conducted a final inspection of all residential dwellings on
the south side of Baugh Drive
b. Baugh Drive from two hundred ten (210) feet east of Hilliard Drive to Hilliard Drive.
C. Chelsea Boulevard from two hundred (200) feet south of Baugh Drive to two
hundred (200) feet north of Baugh Drive until the date the city has conducted a final
inspection of all residential dwellings on the south side of Baugh Drive.
d. Hilliard Drive from two hundred (200) feet north of Tillman Drive to Baugh Drive.
e. Tillman Drive from eight hundred (800) feet west of Hilliard Drive to Hilliard Drive."
SECTION 2. All ordinances of the City of Allen in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall be,
and the same are hereby, repealed; provided, however, that all other provisions of said ordinances not in conflict
' herewith shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. An offense committed before the effective date of this ordinance is governed by prior law and
the provisions of the Code of Ordinances, as amended, in effect when the offense was committed, and the
former law is continued in effect for this purpose.
SECTION 4. Should any word, sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or section of this ordinance
' or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be adjudged or held to he void or unconstitutional, the same
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of said ordinance or the Code of Ordinances, as amended
hereby, which shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5. Any person, firm incorporation violating any of the provisions or terms of this ordinance or of
the Code of Ordinances as amended hereby, shall he subject to the same penalty as provided for in the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Allen, as previously amended, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to
exceed the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) for each offense.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and publication of the
caption as required by law, and it is accordingly so ordained.
