Tom Clark, Chairman Jim Waldbauer, Secretary Lonnie Thomas, Vice -Chairman Ray Galloway Ross Obermeyer MEMBERS ABSENT None Jan Wray, Camp Director Ruth Bemabo, Day Camp Chairman STAFF PRESENT Rhoda Savage, Director of Parks and Recreation Sue Witkowski, Secretary I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m., by Chairman, Tom Clark. IL CITIZENS COMMENTS Jan Wray, representing the Boy Scouts of America appeared before the Board to request permission to hold an evening scout camp at Bethany Lakes during Page 2 PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 9, 1993 the week of July 12 - July 16, 1993. Several concerns were expressed by the Board, some of those being: adults assigned specific clean up duties, BB backstops, archery lanes and backstops, transportation, ages, exclusive use of park, close supervision particularly at north and west end of lake Ms. Wray and Ms. Bernabo both reassured the Board on all issues concerning their request for the camp. Since this item fell under Citizens Comments, the Board will vote on this request at their next regular meeting. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Regular Called Meeting, January 11, 1993 Special Called Meeting, January 25, 1993 Special Called Meeting, February 1, 1993 MOTION: Lonnie Thomas moved to accept the Minutes as amended. Ross Obermeyer seconded, and the motion carried 5 for, 0 against. IV. DISCUSS FEBRUARY 13 PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD TRAINING Following a brief discussion by the Board, it was determined that Tom Clark could not be at the scheduled Saturday, February 13 training session and Ross Obermeyer felt it was strongly doubtful if he could attend. Based on that information, the Board decided to postpone the training until Sunday, February 21, 1993, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. The training will be held in the Allen Senior Citizens Center, and Rhoda indicated she would contact Maureen and T.I. regarding the revised training schedule. V,A.T.C.S. - STAFF REPORT REGARDING PARK DEDICATION VI. RECONVENE AND TAKE ACTION ON ITEMS PRESENTED DURING EXECUTIVE SESSION No action was taken. VII. PROPOSED TOPICS FOR NEXT MEETING The Parks and Recreation Board indicated an interest in recycling programs and Rhoda indicated she would investigate putting it on the next agenda for the regular meeting. VIII.
