Glisan, Director of Traffic Gentlemen: For some time we have nut had bus service into and through the Town of Allen, Texas. The Town of Alien is situated in Collin County, Texas, approxi- mately six miles south of the City of McKinney, the County Seat, and approximately six miles north of the City of Plano. The Town of Allen is bounded on the west by U. S. Highway 75 and on the east by State Highway 5, said highways being connected by Farm Road 2170, a state- maintained all-weather road. which traverses the Town of Allen. At present service is provided the community generally by buses it routed along U. S. Highway 75 (Expressway) which runs generally in a north-south direction approximately one mile west of the business center of our Town. The points of hoarding and unboarding for passengers of the community and Town of Allen are extremely inconvenient and diffi- cult to reac h, especially for our citizens who do not own automobiles 5 i and who ride your hoses to and from their work in Dallas. Furthermore, k.y we believe our citizens are subjected to dangerous and hazardous condi- tions at such pointe of boarding and unboarding, fc ; Presently many of your northbound buses are routed, at least from the City of Richardson, along State Highway 5, formerly U. S. Highway 75, through the City of Plano to Spring Creek Drive, a point approximately three miles north of Plano and three miles south of the Town of Allen, then west along Spring Creek Drive to U. S. Highway 75 and then north toward the City of McKinney where your buses rejoin State Highway 5, Presently many of your southbound buses are routed from the City of McKinney along U. S. Highway 75 to Farm Road 2170, then east along Farm Road 2170 through the Town of Allen to State Highway 5, then south on State Highway 5 to the City of Richardson. Formerly, many of your 5'' .... northbound buses were routed from the City of Richardson along State Highway 5 through the City of Plano to Farm Road 2170, then west along Farm Road 2170 through the Town of Allen. This so-called former rout- * ing provided a better service for our community and our Town and our citizens. `'fl5`u r timet We do hereby respectfully petition and request that said so-called former routings be restored through the Town of Allen. We believe this is a ..' required for public convenience and necessity and will promote the public welfare.
