CALL TO ORDER Chair, Evelyn Dawson called the meeting to order at 6:15 p in 2. CITIZENS COMMENTS There were no citizens present wishing to speak at this time. APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM JUNE 6, 2000 REGULAR CALLED a MEETING MOTION: Lauren Jones moved to accept the Minutes from June 6, 2000 Regular Called Meeting as presented. Deb Sielert seconded and the Motion carried 4 for, 0 against 4. REVIEW AND APPROVE CHANGES INCORPORATED INTO PROPOSED BYLAWS — MARY VAIL Don Horton made a bnef presentation since Mary Vail was on vacation, reviewing the changes made to the bylaws. After a brief discussion, the Board requested that 3.4 "Attendance" be changed from: "Absence from three (3) consecutive meetings without notice. be changed to read "Absence from three (30 regular Board meetings per year without notice " MOTION: Lauren Jones moved to recommend to Citv Council the adoption of the bylaws as amended Deb Sielert seconded, and the Motion 14 carried 5 for, 0 against 5. SUMMER SOUNDS CONCERT WRAP-UP Don Horton provided the Board an opportunity to fill out a survey form regarding this series of concerts. This data will be collected by the Special Activities Coordinator, Lisa Anderson, and will be used in formatting upcoming events. 6. UPDATE ON FALL CONCERT SERIES Since Tess McKeown was on vacation for this meeting, not new items were presented. Don Horton informed the Board that September 18, September 25, October 2 and October 9 were the dates currently on the books for concerts. No bands have been booked as of this date. The Allen Symphony will not be playing a concert during this series. 7. UPDATE ON ART FEST 2001 Lauren Jones made a brief presentation regarding ideas she has been working on for the 2001 event. Staff agreed to research the availability of Allen Station Park to host this event. Ideas were discussed briefly regarding the food vendors, advertising, as well as parking for this event. Page 3 Allen Arts AILanLe Bomd Meeting July 11, 21100 8. PLAZA FUND RAISING EFFORT It was reported that three donations had been received for the Plaza Fund Raising Campaign totaling $300. It was decided that a letter from the Mayor should be included in the mailing of the City Hall Plaza Fund Raising Brochure. Board Members agreed to meet on August 19, beginning at 3 p.m to stuff these letters. The Board will be informed of more details as they become available. 9. OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Johnson made a brief presentation to the Board promoting a Flag -football program in Allen. Mr Johnson felt that at some point, this program might be a fund-raising opportunity for the Allen Arts Alliance. He will be offering a class at the Joe Farmer Recreation Center this fall dealing with his proposal. 10.
