Chair, Evelyn Dawson called the meeting to order at 6 07 p m

t3. INTRODUCTION OF NEWLY APPOINTED BOARD MEMBER
Joyce Richards gave a brief history of her involvement in the arts as a teacher, as
well as some of the projects she has been involved in with her home State of
Illinois with grants and education.
4. APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER 5, 2000 REGULAR
CALLED MEETING
MOTION: Cindy Kaleta moved to accept the Minutes from September 5,
2000 Regular Called Meeting as presented. Deb Sielert seconded
and the Motion tamed 7 for, 0 against
5. STRATEGIC PLAN DISCUSSION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF
CALENDAR
The Board went through each of the goals called out in the Strategic Plan, setting
a priority for these goals, either high or low Discussions were held on ad-hoc
committees, as well as a Friends of the Parks/Arts group being formed that might
help meet some of these goals. Don indicated he would be meeting with the City
Attorney in the near future to discuss the formation of this group.
It was decided that further discussions on specifics would be held at the
December meeting of this Board. In addition, possible dates for a workshop at the
December meeting
6. REVIEW AND ESTABLISH PROJECT LIST FOR BUDGET
Don Horton presented the following list of projects along with the recommended
budgets:

It was suggested that this budget be accepted, but that the opportunity be left open
["`I to revisit and move funds from one project to another as needed.

MOTION: Deb Sielert moved to accept the list of projects as presented, and to
keep the specific funding Flexible to be used as needed Lauren
Jones seconded, and the Motion carried 7 for, 0 against.
7. MONTHLY STANDING AGENDA -SETTING MEETING
Don informed the Board that the last Tuesday of each Month, he and the Chair
would be meeting to set the Agenda for the next regular meeting of this Board and
invited anyone who wanted to have an item placed on the agenda to contact the
Parks and Recreation Department.
8. UPDATE/REVIEW ON BOARD PROJECTSASSUES
UPDATE ON ART FEST 2001/ALLEN USA — LAUREN JONES
It was reported that the sub -committee had not met, but a meeting was set for
November 15, 2000, 7 p.m. in the Bethany Lakes Clubhouse. Lauren presented
various suggestions (advertising, tee-shirts, banners/posters, call for entries)
to the Board, along with a brief review of the process of inviting artists to
participate.
UPDATE ON AUTUMN RHYTHM CONCERT SERIES AND RECAP
SUNDAY SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES — REVIEW HOST LISTS —
ASSIGN BOARD MEMBERS
Joel Cantwell reported that he needed to switch with one of the other Board
members for the upcoming concert. Joyce Richards volunteered to act as hostess
for the next concert (November 12). All Board members were encouraged to
attend.
OTHER BUSINESS
It was suggested that the Arts Board have a holiday gathering, and Joyce Richards
volunteered her home for this event. It was decided to hold this event on Friday.
December 8, at 7 p.m. Everyone was invited to bring an appetizer to share.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9 p.m.
