Min - Arts Alliance - 2001 - 09/04 - RegularL MINUTES ALLEN ARTS ALLIANCE BOARD REGULAR CALLED MEETING September 04, 2001 AAAB MEMBERS PRESENT Evelyn Dawson, Chair Debra Sielert, Vice -Chair Cynthia Kaleta Joel Cantwell Lisa Ellrich Members Absent Lauren Jones, Secretary Joyce Richards Staff Present Don Horton, Director of Parks and Recreation Larry Kirk, Recreations Services Manager Lisa Anderson, Special Activities Coordinator Tina Daniels, Cultural Arts Specialist CALL TO ORDER Chair, Evelyn Dawson called the meeting to order at 6:18 p.m. 2. CITIZENS COMMENTS There was no citizens present wishing to speak at this time. 3. The minutes from the August meeting were to approved. Lisa Ellrich made the motion and Joel Cantwell seconded the motion. Lisa Ellrich made the motion and Joel Cantwell seconded the motion. 4. AD HOC COMMITTEE UPDATE a. School Liaison/Programs—Lauren Jones, Cindy Kaleta and Joyce Richards Cindy Kaleta presented a check to Jenna Oke, Ford Middle School's art teacher for Ford's participation in Artfest at Allen USA. b. Friends of the Parts and Art in Allen ---Lisa Ellrich Nothing to report at this time. c. Art in Public Places Committee ---Deb Sielert, Joel Cantwell Deb Sielert researched prices for frames for Art in Public Places. A suggestion was made to buy gift cards from Hobby Lobby with this year's budget and use them to have future items framed. The board did not know if this was an option and Larry Kirk would check with the finance department to see if this was possible. 5. UPDATE/REVIEW on BOARD ISSUES/PROJECTS a. Park Foundation Update ---Don Horton Don reported that the Park Foundation could now use the name "Allen Parks Foundation" name. "kidmania" volunteers were looking for assistance to make the handprint art tiles look more like "art". Area ■Y art teachers will be contacted to see their interest in this project. b. Library/Auditorium---Don Horton, Evelyn Dawson Don gave an update on the use of the library space. The library will be 53,000 square feet. There is some discussion on use of space and Don will report back to the board at a later date on the final plans for the library c. Public Relations ----Deb Sielert Deb Sielert and Bill Dillard will work together for ad for Allen Symphony d. Sunday Sounds Concert Series ----Tina Daniels Tina Daniels reported that several entertainers have been reviewed and booked for Sunday Sounds. The dates were not firm but she will bring dates and the list of performers at the October board meeting. 6. ART ALLLIANCE GUILD A I I A meeting of the guild will follow this meeting. This is to be a brainstorming session for all new members. 7. Other Business It was agreed by the members to buy additional plates from Loc International and to purchase table clothes and table skirting. Lisa Ellrich and Tina Daniels will work on purchasing these items. 8. MEETING ADJOURNED at 8:02 p.m. These minutes read and approved this day 2nd day of October. i auren Jones, Pcretary
