1) Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the Parks and Recreation Board present, Vice -Chair John Holley
called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014, in the
Jameson Lounge of the Allen Event Center at 200 E. Stacy Road #1350, Allen,
Texas.
2) Approve Minutes of the November 11, 2013 Meeting
Motion: Upon a motion by Member Larry Holley and a second by Member Airhart
the Parks and Recreation Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to

approve the minutes from the November 11, 2013, meeting. The motion
carried.
3) Cottonwood Creek Historic Dam Project Update
This is a huge connectivity for the community. It will be one of two linkages under
US75. The project includes trailhead development, historic preservation, interpretive
signage and a pedestrian bridge. The pedestrian bridge is a location currently being
considered by the Public Art Committee as potential future location for public art.
4) Capital Improvement Project Review
Mr. Dentler shared with the board that the department was the recent recipient of two
Texas Recreation and Park Society awards and was also one of four finalists for the
National Recreation and Park Association's prestigious Gold Medal Award. He then
reviewed the organizational structure of the department and the role of board members.
5) Subcommittee Updates
Member John Holley reported that the Senior Advisory Board elections were held.

a) Items for Future Agendas: Spring Facility Tour, Joint Meeting with Allen Parks
Foundation, Future Capital Improvement Projects
b) Next Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
7) Adjourn

Following which a facility tour will be held.
Motion: Upon a motion by Board Member Airhart a second by Board Member
Davidson, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the
meeting. The motion carried.
