Min - Public Art Committee - 2014 - 02/18 - RegularPUBLIC ART COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING FEBRURARY 18, 2014 - 6:00 P.M. Present: Committee Members: Denise Gilbert, Chair Ann Carroll Jane Bennett Susan Barry City Staff: Lon Smeby, Assistant Director, Parks and Recreation Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, Parks and Recreation Jennifer Robinson, Senior Administrative Assistant, Parks and Recreation Members Absent: Steve Benson Emile Carriere Matthew Grant Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present With a quorum of the committee members present, the regular meeting of the Public Art Committee was called to order by Chair Gilbert at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in the Parks and Recreation Conference Room at 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas Approve minutes from the November 19, 2013 Regular Meeting. MOTION. Upon a motion made by committee member Carriere and seconded by committee member Bennett, the committee voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to accept minutes from the November 19, 2013 regular meeting as presented. Governor's Community Achievement Award Project Recommendation to City Council Matt McComb, Landscape Architect, reviewed with the committee the selection of Allen Drive as the location of this project. He also shared Blackland Pmme themed drawings of the sound wall barriers that would be incorporated into the highway portion of the project. After discussion member Bennett mentioned she would like to be on the Selection Panel if this project moves forward and then the following motion was brought forward. 1 MOTION: Upon a motion made by committee member Carroll and seconded by committee member Bennett, the committee voted four (4) for and none (0) opposed to PUBLIC ART COMMITTE REGULAR MEETING February 18. 2014 recommend that the Public Art Committee contribute up to $270,000 toward the joint project for the Governor's Community Achievement Award. Discussion Items 3. Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge Selection Panel Update Member Carroll shared with the committee that many great applications were received and the Selection Panel has begun to narrow down the artists. They will meet again on February 26 to further narrow down to two to three artists. Artist interviews will then be held as a public meeting following which a finalist recommendation will be brought back to the Public Art Committee for approval. 4. Items of Interest a.
