Regular Meeting of
City Council, City of Allen,Allen, Texas
March 26th 1961li .
Meeting called to order by Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Council Members present as follows ; Phil Pringle, F. Dean Sears,
C.E. Ottaway, B.J . Enloe and R.B . Whisenant.
Mr. Walter F. Hicks , Jr. "Engineer" and Mr. J.D. Buchanan, Jr. ,
of Municipal Securities Company Investment Bankers along with several
of our local people was also present . Mrs Euva Wright spokesman for
part of the group who live on South-Second-Street-West discussed
some Street Work with the Council. Mayor Jones informed the guest
that the Council would discuss the street work at a future meeting.
The cost of Sewer Plant, issuing of bond and etc. to take care of
up to 7000 people, was discussed by Mr. Hicks and Mr. Buchanan.
Mr. Hicks told the council that the total expense of Sewer System
would be $275,000.00. Federal Grant is 30% of laying out fall
lines and building of plant--Not Buying of Land.
Bids on the Sewer Plant to be advertised August 1st, 1964 and
opened September 1st, 1964.
Motion by Billy J. Enloe to paybills presented to the council.
Seconded by R. B , Whisenant. Motion Passed--Ayes-5, Noes-None.
Motion by Dean Sears that Mayor Jones write a letter to Fire
Chief Charles Fowler, instructing him to take the fire truck out
of service for the length of time required to have the brakes and
front end repaired. The City Council resumes the responsibility
for the time it takes to repair the truck.
Seconded by R. B, Whisenant. Motion passed--Ayes-4, Noes-none .
Abstention-1, B. J. Enloe
The Council discussed fire plugs to be placed on Keith Street
at a cost of approximately $450.00 to $500.00 per plug. This
estimate was given by Boles and Eden. Mayor Jones appointed Mr.
R, B. Whisenant to check on fire plug prices and report his
findings at the next regular meeting.
