Min - City Council - 1964 - 04/23 - Regular REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COUNCIL, ALLEN, TEXAS April 23, 1964 Members present as follows : Mayor Gentry T. Jones, Aldermen: C. E. Ottaway, Phil Pringle, and R. B. Whisenant. Members Absent : Jimmy Gantt and B. J. Enloe. Mr. Pringle reported that he had checked on a number of the streets and found them in need of repair. Mr. R. B. Whisenant reported on the fire truck. Mr. W. E. Ford was present and suggested that the city might contact Honorable H. Ray Roberts concerning a fire truck from an air force base which is going to be closed soon. The Council suggested that R. B. Whisenant write Honorable H. Ray Roberts concerning this . George Anderson, Haise Williams and Hubert Jones were present to discuss with the council street work on North 3rd Street East to the colored section of Allen. A Resolution was read by all members of the Council regarding a program of construction of sewerage works for the Town of Allen. Said resolution authorizing Mayor Gentry T. Jones to sign necessary documents required to complete Federal loan on behalf of said City of Allen. Motion by Phil Pringle that Mayor Jones sign said resolution. Seconded by R. B. Whisenant . Motion passed--Ayes 3. Noes 0. Motion by Phil Pringle that C. E. Ottaway be appointed as Mayor- Pro-Tem. Seconded by R. B. Whisenant . Motion passed--Ayes 3. Noes 0. Motion by C. E. Ottaway that the city replace four street lights on Highway 5 the following intersections with the new street lights--Ellis, Watson, Allenwood and Keith, Seconded by R. B. Whisenant, Motion Passed--Ayes 3. Noes 0. Meeting Adjorned. These minutes read and approved this the 14 day of May 1964. i IRESOLUTION • WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Allen has authorized a program of construction of sewerage works at an estimated cost of • 370 000 and the United States Government, acting through the Pub is Ilea th Service, has offered a Federal Trent in the amount of $10 000 as designated on Part A, Offer and Acceptance, now under consideration by this body. NOW, THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Allen, that said offer as submitted, together with the terms and conditions thereof, is hereby accepted and approved ; and that Gentry T. Jones, Mayor of the Town of Allen is hereby authorized and directed to sign said Offer and Acceptance and any other necessary documents required to complete the project on be- half of said Town. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town of Allen has or will pro- cure a fee simple or such other estate or interest in the site of the project, including the necessary easements and right-of-way, as • re, assure undisturbed use and possession for the purposes of cons- triction, operation and maintenance of the works for the estimated li life of the project ; and that in the event such title, estate, or interest in such site, easements or rights-of-way may in the future be contested, the Town of Allen will defend and maintain its title in such site and hold the United States Government blameless in such action ; and that before any Federal payment is requested pur- suant to said grant, said Town will provide certification as to the sufficiency of such estate or interest.
