CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
AUGUST 27, 1964
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen-- C. E. Ottaway, Phil Pringle, B. J. Enloe and
R. B. Whisenant
Alderman Jimmy Gantt was absent.
Many members of the Allen Volinteer Fire Department attended
this meeting by special invitation from the Mayor and City Council
to discuss the future purchase of fire fighting equipment.
R. B. Whisenant, Chairman of the fire truck committee, explained
his findings to the Fire Department with reference to buying a
Fire Truck. Bill LaGrone, spokesman for the fire department,
requested a heater and a new siren for the Fire Station.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway to pay bills presented by the City
Secretary. Seconded By R. B. Whisenant. Motion Passed--Ayes 4,
Noes none.
Mrs. B. J. Chapin presented a petition signed by several
neighbors stating that they do not object to a Flower Shop being
placed in Mrs . Chapin's home which will be located at 406 W. First.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway that Mrs . Chapin be granted a permit for
a flower shop in her home. Seconded by B. J. Enloe. Motion Passed--
Ayes 4, Noes none.
Mr. Herod presented a drawing of the six inch water main to the
City Council, to be run along Ave. AA North approximately 1000 feet
then reduced to a smaller line on to John Enloe property.
The Council discussed City street improvements.
