Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2005 - 02/16 - RegularCity of Allen Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes, Wednesday February 16, 2005 The meeting was held at the Allen Police Training Room and convened at 710 p.m. Present at the meeting were members Lon Braselton, Joey Allette, Dr. Mike Overton and Vikki Francis Not in attendance at the meeting was Bill Ameser Chairperson, Lon Braselton, called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Approval of the Minutes from November 17, 2004 The minutes were approved by unanimous consent. Citizens Comments No citizens were present at the meeting. Discussion of Grants and Spay/Neuter Program Lon Braselton advised that the Barber Foundation gives no grants to government agencies and Albert Switzer Aminal Welfare may possible give us a grant. Joey Allette advised that the Allen Chamber of Commerce had no idea what we were talking about and he felt going to the Allen Economic Development might be a conflict of interest since he works for the city. Lowe's would like a written description of materials only and Home Depot had not been contacted yet. Bill Ameser was not present to report on Peter, cam's, Petsmart, and local financing. Vikki Francis advised that a letter of intent was sent to the Animal Friendly Fund The second item discussed was the Spay/Neuter program. Vikki Francis had the letter faxed to the City Attorney for review and changes had been made as requested. Lon Braselton will write a letter to each Veterinarian, to see if they would like to participate in the spay/neuter program, and will email it to Vikki so it can be sent out. Two weeks after the letters are sent Lon will make personal contact with each Veterinarian to answer any questions A checklist and interview questions needs to be done to go with the letters. Vikki will get the Veterinarians names and give to Lon. Vikki will get a Inst of equipment, materials, supplies and the approximate costs that will be needed to start up the spay/neuter program. -- Items of Interest Lon Braselton brought to the attention of the committee that the Animal Shelter needed the annual inspection done. The State Law requires a licensed Veterinarian to do the inspection. Lon recommended to get a Veterinarian to do the inspection. A recommendation was given by Lon Braselton and second by Joey Allette and Bill Ameser for the inspection to he done. Vikki Francis abstained on the vote. Next Meeting/Adiourn The next meeting was set for May 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Police Training Room. Lon Braselton adjourns the meeting at 8:32 p in.
