Meeting Minutes, Wednesday October 24, 2007
The meeting was held at the Allen Police Training Room and convened at 7 11p.m. Present at the
meeting were members Lon Braselton, Joey Allette, Dr. Alan Coffman and Vikki Francis. Absent was
Bill Ameser.
Chairperson, Lon Braselton, called the meeting to order at 7-1 1p.m
Approval of the Minutes from March 21, 2007
The minutes were approved by unanimous consent.
Citizens Comments
No citizens were present at the meeting.
Council Liaison
Jeff Mc Gregor absent from meeting.
Introduction of Committee Members
New committee member Dr. Alan Coffman was introduced and returning member Lon Braselton was
welcomed back.
Election of Officers
Election of officers was held for Chairperson. Joey Allette nominated Lon Braselton for Chair person
and was unanimously voted in. Lon Braselton nominated Dr. Alan Coffman for Vice chair person and
was unanimously voted in. By city ordinance Vikki Francis remained secretary
Animal is Disaster
Lon Braselton advised he had finished taking the module 1 and passed the test. Module 2 is the
writing guidelines for a disaster and Vikki Francis advised she would get with Shelly George to see if
the Animal Shelter was included in the cities disaster plan. Lon Braselton advised he would get the
basic information on writing the guidelines for animals in a disaster.
Animal Shelter Expansion
With the expansion of the Animal Shelter need to get what type of equipment will be need for a
surgical/euthanasia room and what type of wattage it will take for the equipment. Dr. Coffman will do
a list of equipment needed and get it back to Vikki Francis. One question was brought up about the
cost of equipment, "How will the equipment be paid for if the bond money is short"' Vikki Francis
advised that she would check into and get back with the committee.
Heartworm Testing
Vikki Francis asked Dr. Coffman if he thought it would be more economic to heartworm test all dogs
that go up for adoption. Dr. Coffman advised that the cost for the heanworm test is a minimal expense
to spend and would make the dog more adoptable
Items of Interest
Vikkt Francis Lon Braselton that he would need to attend the City Council meeting on November 13,
2007 to present to the council the year in review Mr. Braselton will need to attend the workshop at
6pm and then present the slide show at 7pm.
Next Meetine/Adiourn
The next meeting was set for December 12, 2007 at 7 00 p.m. at the Police Traming Room. Lon
Braselton adjourns the meeting at 8:09 p.m
