Meeting Minutes- Wednesday, March 21, 2012
The meeting was held at the Allen Animal Shelter and convened at 7:00 p.m. Present at the meeting
were members Dr Alan Coffman. Joey Allette, Dawn Blue, Justin Schiffner and Vikki Francis.
Special guest was Chief Brian Harvey
Chairperson, Dawn Blue, called the meeting to order at 7.11 p.m.
Approval of the Minutes from November 2, 2011
The minutes were approved by unanimous consent.
Council Liaison
None were present from the meeting.
Introduction of New Chief of Police
Vikki Francis introduced Chief Harvey to the committee members and he gave a little background on
himself. The committee members were introduce to Chief Harvey with background information
Spay/Neuter Equipment -Progress
Dawn Blue advised that she got one (1) surgery pack donated and had put the information out to other
vet offices if they were replacing equipment and want to donate the old ones to the shelter.
Dr. Coffman also advised he would donate a surgery pack and Chief Harvey asked what was in the
pack. Dr. Coffman described what was in the surgery pack. Dr. Coffman advised he had on old
Autoclave and would have Tyler look at it and find out if it's useable and if so would donate it.
Chief Harvey asked what type of equipment would be needed and the cost for it. Dr. Coffman
explained the equipment and Vikki Francis showed Chief Harvey the list Dr. Coffman had done with
equipment needed
Dr. Coffman advised he had gotten an oxygen concentrator to replace using oxygen tanks and it has
saved him a huge amount of money and the worry of running out.
Heartworm and Feline Leukemia testing were brought up again and Dr. Coffman explained the
importance of testing dogs and cats before they go up for adoption so it would make it easier on the
family adopting knowing if the animals were positive or not. Dr. Coffman recommended doing the
Feline Leukemia and the HIV testing on cats and advised the cost was minimal and he would sell the
testing kits to the shelter at cost.
Discussion
Dawn Blue asked about doing some type of fundraising to help detour the costs for the testing and any
equipment. Vikki Francis will check into what requirements the City has for doing fundraisers and get
the information to Dawn
Question was asked who our Council Liaison was and due to the pending appointment of a new
Council person Vikki would find out after the appointment was done.

Items of Interest
Joey Allette announced he was retiring from the City and this would be the last meeting he would
attend. He stated that he had recommended his co-worker Brain to replace him but was not sure if that
would happen.
Next Meeting/Adjourn
The nest meeting was set for May 16, 2012 at 7.00 p.m at the Allen Animal Shelter. Dawn Blue
adjourns the meeting at 8:30 p.m.
