Meeting Minutes- Monday, April 1, 2013
The meeting was held at the Allen Animal Shelter and convened at 7:05 p.m. Present at the meeting
were members Dr. Alan Coffman, Dawn Blue, Justin Schiffner, and Allison Harper. Deputy Chief
Johnny Thomason attended as a guest.
Chairperson, Dawn Blue, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Approval of the Minutes from December 4.2012
The minutes were approved by Dawn Blue and Justin Schiffner.
Council Liaison
Gary Caplinger was present for the meeting.
Spay/Neuter Equipment -Progress
DC Thomason requested a current list of needed equipment. The group also discussed what would be
the best way to compensate a vet, on a per surgery basis or per hour. Allison will check with other
cities to inquire about their processes for hiring a vet.
Items of Interest
ACO Appreciation Week is coming up April 7 — 13. The shelter employees will attend City Council
on April 9`h to be recognized.
Bite Prevention Week is May 20 — 26. The shelter employees will attend City Council on May 14ih to
bring about awareness of animal bites.
In February the shelter began vaccinating dogs upon intake with the DAPPv vaccine. Dr. Coffman
thought this was a good choice as it would help prevent disease in the shelter.
Dawn Blue will assist in putting together the presentation for City Council which will take place April
23rd
Next Meeting/Adiourn
The next meeting will be scheduled after the City Council presentation on April 23rd. Dawn Blue
adjourns the meeting at 8.14 p.m.
