Meeting Minutes - Monday, October 7, 2013
1 The meeting was held at the Allen Police Department and convened at 7:05 p.m. Present at the meeting
were members Dr. Alan Coffman, Dawn Blue, Justin Schiffner, Kathryn May, and Allison Harper.
Also in attendance were Dr. Gary Hefner, Dr. Dan Kendall, Dr. Dual Mensik, Dr. Jerry Wilson, Dr.
Rodney Little, and Katy Hambrick.
Chairperson, Dawn Blue, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Approval of the Minutes from August 6, 2013
The minutes from the August 6, 2013 were approved by Dawn Blue and Justin Schiffner.
Spay/Neuter Program -Progress
The members of the board discussed the possibilities for spaying and neutering pets being adopted
from the shelter. The following items were discussed and agreed upon by the group:
• The consensus from the vets is that having animals in their practice with unknown vaccination
history is too much of a liability
• Everyone agreed to start doing surgeries at the shelter, we would not need to purchase the
extensive list of equipment that was previously put together
• Dr. Wilson has offered to assist us in finding used equipment to equip or workroom so that the
surgeries could be done at the shelter by local vets who are willing to be part of the program
• Everyone agreed that the shelter could obtain basic equipment including surgery tables, a good
light, an anesthesia machine, and oxygen
• Everyone was also in agreement to using their own spay/neuter pack for the surgeries
• The proposed payment for a spay or neuter surgery is $50, and $10 for a rabies vaccination
• The advisory board has agreed to do a fund raiser for equipment if needed

The next meeting time and date is to be determined. Dawn Blue adjourns the meeting at 9:30 p.m.
