Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen : C. E. Ottaway, Phil Pringle, and Jimmy Gantt.
Absent : R. B. Whisenant and Bill Enloe
Mr. Herod, one of our City Engineer, was present to report on the
cost of water line for South 2nd St. Estimate cost being about
$7,500. to $8,000.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway to change the water line on South 2nd from
6inch to 8 inch. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed-Ayes 3,
Noes none.
Engineers Herod and Skiles were instructed to advertise for bids on
the street work. Bids to be opened at the next regular meeting,
which will be April 1st, 1965.
Earl Young was present to discuss a kindergarten permit.
C. E. Ottaway made motion that the maximum number of children in a
kindergarten be raised from 10 to 25 children. Motion seconded
by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed--Ayes 3, Noes none .
Motion by Phil Pringle to pickup abandoned cars parked inside the
City Limits of the City of Allen and keep them in storage for a
time of 60 days then to be disposed of. Seconded by C . E.Ottaway.
Motion passed--Ayes 3, Noes none.
Mr. Stephenson presented the plot on the Cottonwood Addition .
Motion by C. E. Ottawa that plot on Cottonwood Estates be excepted
subject to the changes approved by our city engineers. Seconded by
Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed--Ayes 3, Noes none.
Motion by Phil Pringle that a set of plans be set up for future
development of streets, waterlines, etc. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt.
Motion passed--Ayes 3, Noes none.
Mr. Callahan was present asking for a night-watchman job. He was
informed to present to the council at the next meeting a letter
stating his experience in this line of work.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway to set the Equalization Board Meeting for
May 20, 1965. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Passed--Ayes 3, Noes none.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to pay bills presented by City Secretary,
Seconded by C. E. Ottaway. Passed--Ayes 3, Noes none.
Motion by C. E. Ottaway to adjorn. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt
