MINUTES OF THE
ALLEN PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
JANUARY 4, 2000
ALLEN PUBLIC LIBRARY

I. The regular meeting of the Allen Public Library Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and a
quorum was announced by Chairperson, Donna Drews Vanous. Board members present were
John Ross, Cal Calvin, Frank Smdow, Cindy Wynn -Sangster and Library Director, Barbara
Buehler. Lisa Bradley of Friends of The Library was present, as well.
II. Discussion of the minutes of the December 7, 1999 meeting.
III. Made changes to the Library Board's recommendation to the City Council. Wording and layout
changes were made for the purposes of clarification. It was agreed that the heading "Plan II"
was confusing and should be taken out and that number VII., Recommendation II., was no longer
needed in accordance with the changes made.
John Ross moved that the minutes be amended to reflect the changes made. Frank Snidow
seconded this motion and the motion carried unanimously.
W. Frank Smdow made a motion to approve the minutes with the Board's changes reflected. The
motion was seconded by John Ross and the motion carried unanimously
V. Looked at The Rocket Book and discussed new book technology and the issues involved.
VI. Reviewed and discussed a newspaper article about on -demand printing.
VII. The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
