Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen: Jimmy Gantt, B. J. Enloe, Dan Strong, Ken Posey,
Absent: R. B. Whisenant
The new Aldermen, Dan Strong, Ken Posey and B. J. Enloe,
were given the Oath of Office, Mayor Gentry T, Jones gave an informative
talk on some of the things now in progress by the City of Allen, for the
benifit of the new Councilmen.
Mayor Jones opened bids on street paving contracts which
included-General Texas Asphalt Co, Uvalde Construction Co, Austin Paving
Co., Texas Bitulethic Co and McInerney Asphalt Co.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to accept the low bid submitted by Robert L. Sutton
on water main on S. Second and contract to be awarded to Uvalde Construction
Co, as low bidder on asphalt, subject to approval by our engineer.
Seconded by Dan Strong, Motion passed--ayes 4, noes 0,
Motion by Jimmy Gantt for our engineers to check sewer line
for sewering lots on South Second Street west of the well property,
Seconded by Ken Posey, Motion passed--ayes 4, noes none.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to pay bills presented by Secretary.
Seconded by Dan Strong, Motion passed -- ayes 4, none-none.
Mayor Jones suggested that a letter be written to the Allen
Elementary School and the Baptist Church concerning parking area to be
paved at the time street work is being done.
Motion by B. J. Enloe to sell $50,000, Street Bond, subject to
approval of the engineer on the street bids. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt,
Motion Passed--ayes 4, noes none.
