Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Board Workshop of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Board Chair, Cal Calvin at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2002, in the Allen Library Meeting
Room of the Allen Public Library, 2 Allen Civic Plaza, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Testas
Workshop Agenda
1. Introduce Facilitator—Dale Fleeger.
Board member Cal Calvin introduced Dale Fleeger, Netls Coordinator and was asked to start the
brainstorming session by giving various potential projects that might be unique and helpful for the new
library
2. Brainstorming Session Regarding Potential Special Projects.
The Board presented the following ideas.
• Art Piece (Inside and Outside)
• Author Lecture Series
• Children's Author Lecture Series

Board member Cal Calvin feels we have a unique chance of making the new library and Auditorium the
"Cultural Center of Allen" as plans for the downtown area develops.
3. Consider Date of Next Regular Board Meeting.
The next Library Board Meeting has been rescheduled due to conflicts. The Library Board's next
regular meeting will be Monday, February 11, 2002
Other Business
Library Director, Barbara Buehler reminded the Board members to renew their TLA memberships.
Board Business 2002 is to be held February 7, 2002. This is presented by the Volunteer Center of
Collin County
Friends of the Allen Public Library needs collections for the Library entry display cases For more
information, call Betty Mathews.
Calendar.
• February 07, 2002, Board Business 2002.
• February 11, 2002, Allen Public Library Board, Regular Meeting.
• TLA Conference will be held in April, in Dallas.
Motion: Upon a motion made by Board member John Ross, and seconded by Board member Frank Snidow the
Board voted (6) for and (0) against to adjourn the Library Workshop Meeting.
