1 Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum of Board Members present, the Regular Meeting of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Board Vice -Chair Hugh Brawn at 6'30 p in on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, in the Board Room of the
Allen Public Library, 300 North Allen Drive, Allen, Texas.
Regular Agenda
L Approve Minutes of the January 10, 2012 Special Called Meeting.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Diane Knaack and seconded by Devita Widmer, the Board voted four
(4) for and none (0) opposed to approve the January 10, 2012 minutes. The motion carried
2. Review and Discuss December 2011 Library Statistics.
Checkouts, circulation, new items, new patrons, holds, and program attendance increased. The
number of visitors decreased slightly and patron Internet use continued to decrease (does not include
Wi-Fi usage). Year to year statistical comparison are better than anticipated. We started with about
900 ebooks and have grown to about 1500.
3. Discuss Allen Library Week March 10-18,2012.
March 10-18 is also Spring Break week. There will be a lot of programs for everyone: Food for
Fines, Celtic Night on the 15'", Duo Transatlantique on the 18th, Armchair Travelers, and an author
visit from Grace Lin. The Friends of the Library annual staff luncheon will be scheduled that week.

Discuss Annual Library Board Report to the City Council.

On March 13 at 7 p.m., Cindy will present the annual report to the City Council. We're all
encouraged to be there with name tags. Geoff's suggestion from January to incorporate community
comments has been added. Jeff shared the presentation to applause. Carson asked if we could
applaud at the City Council, and Jeff said yes.
Review Calendar Items.
All council and Friends meetings are added. Try to attend February 28 and March 13 City Council
meetings as both have library -related items on the agenda. The nest board meeting will be April 3.
Adjourn.
