Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board Members present, the Regular Meeting of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Chair, Don Wing, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in the Board Room of the Allen Public
Library, 300 North Allen Drive, Allen, Texas,

1. Review and Discuss the Presentation for the Library Board Annual Report to the City Council
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Library Board's upcoming presentation to the City
Council on March 23`d at 7:00 p.m. Don Wing performed a trial presentation while fielding questions
from various board members. The bottom line according to Jeff Timbs, is that circulation is up,
materials count is down, and library staff touches and interaction with patrons has trended upward
versus a year ago
Tam Keener, Cultural Arts Manager, offered to provide more content by adding a slide with events
that are forthcoming. There was also talk of including several examples of cross -committee and
cross -departmental cooperation when hosting or facilitating.
The board concurred with the recommendation to add a slide to the presentation showing the
forthcoming events that the Allen Public Library hosts or supports

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board Member, Donna Drews Vanous and a second by Board
Member Rajeev Verma, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn at 9:00
p.m The motion carried.
