Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board Members present, the Regular Meeting of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Vice -Chair, Donna Drews Various, at 7:31 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in the Board Room
of the Allen Public Library, 300 North Allen Drive, Allen, Texas.
Regular Aeenda
1. Nominate and Elect New Officers.
The Library Board elected new Officers.
The board elected the following board members as Officers of the 2009/2010 year:
Chair—Don Wing
Vice -Chair— Donna Drews Vanous
Secretary—Geoffrey Smith
2. Approve Minutes of October 6, 2009 Regular Called Meeting.
The board approved the minutes with no corrections.

MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board Member, Donald Wing and a second by Board Member,
Donna Drews Various, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to approve the
October 6, 2009 library board minutes. The motion carried.
3. Review and Discuss September and October 2009 Library Statistics.
The Library Board reviewed and noted the peaks. The check out of books are increasing yearly and
programs are growing.
4. Receive Report on Northeast Texas Library System Meeting held in Garland on December I,
2009.
Library Director, Jeff Timbs gave the report on the Northeast Texas Library System meeting. This
meeting they held the vendor fair. Several people from the Allen Public Library attended and
checked out the various vendors for summer programs. Three colleges in Texas are accredited for the
Master of Library Science program. It was a very busy meeting.
5. Receive Update on Planned Changes for Library Website.
The board reviewed changes in the library website and changes were explained that have been made
and the future changes to be made and/or possibilities. The library is trying to make the website more
user friendly
6. Review Calendar Items.
Calendar items were reviewed Allen Reads will be doing 22 programs to match the book chosen for
the new year. Some of the February programs were reviewed.
7. Adjourn.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Board Member, Trent Armstrong and a second by Board Member
Rajeev Verma, the Board voted six (6) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn at 8:48 p.m. The
motion carried
