Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Special Called Meeting of the Allen Public Library was
called to order by Board Chair, In Long, at 7:35 p.m, on Monday March 20, 2007 in the Board Room of the
Allen Public Library, 300 North Allen Drive, Allen, Texas.
1. Citizens Comments.
None
2. Approve Minutes of February 6, 2007 Regular Meeting and February 26' Workshop.
Motion: Upon A motion made by Board Member, Donald Wing, and a second by Board Member,
Mary Jane Hamilton, the Board voted (7) for and none (0) opposed to approve the February 6, 2007
Regular Meeting and February 26, 2007 Special Called Meeting Library Board minutes with one
correction. Added Susan McDaniel to the Special Called Meeting.

3. Review Monthly Statistics and Suggestion Forms.
The library board reviewed monthly statistics and read the suggestion forms.
4. Review Annual Report to City Council.
Tom Keener, Library Coordinator showed the library board a PowerPoint presentation that will be
presented to the City Council by Donald Wing. It contained special programs and statistics over the
2005/2006 fiscal year at the Allen Public Library. The Annual Report will be presented to the City
Council on April 10, 2007
5. Planning for Library's 401h Anniversary.
The library board discussed what is needed to get the planning done for the 40" anniversary They
decided that a committee needed to be formed partnered with the Friends to help. Maybe get some of
the people to volunteer from the Arts Alliance, Foundation for Allen Schools, Allen Philharmonic
Symphony etc. Also form a committee for the kick-off which Susan and Ruth volunteered. Jo and Mary
Jane volunteered for the activity sponsored committee Plan a culminating activity that involves the
Friends which Don and Julia volunteered to work on.
6. Items of Interest.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler gave the board a report on the Tutor.com program at the library.
It is going very well and the amount of students using it is increasing every week
Wilma Smith with the Friends and Board Member Ruth Pringle are working on recruiting people to
serve on the Endowment Fund Board.
