Meeting called to order by Mayor Gentry T. Jones.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved .
A committee of eleven men were present from Ellis Street
to discuss the repairing of Ellis Street back like it was. The men
were Bobby McMenamy, Billy Howlett, C. A. Cass, Jr, Kenneth Holt,
O. L. Tenant, Ronald Nicholson, J. M. Burton, Ronald Vaughn, N. B.
Doggett, Tom Acord and Daulton Meads. Mayor Jones told the group
about the street improvement program and what they could expect from
the City at this time. One of our city engineers, Mr. Skiles who was
present, was instructed to get some bids on fixing Ellis Street from
East Ave. C. south to Highway #5.
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to pay bills presented by the City
Secretary. Seconded by Ken Posey, Motion passed--Ayes 4, Noes none .
Motion by Jimmy Gantt to transfer $1,049.30. from the General
Fund to the Revenue Fund as of June 30, 1965. Seconded by R. B.
Whisenant. Motion passed--Ayes 4, noes none.
Council discussed the 8" water line to the new Shell Station.
Contract on water line was considered with further investigation as to
the size of the bore under Highway 2170. This will be considered at
the next meeting.
Motion by R, B. Whisenant that H&S be authorized to obtain
the services of an independent testing laboratory if H&S deems that
sell compaction texts are required. Also H&S is to inform the cont-
ractors that all costs of retesting required due to compaction failure
be charged against his contract. Seconded by Dan Strong. Motion passed-
Ayes 4, noes none.
