Call to Order and Announce a Ouorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Regular Meeting of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Cal Calvin, Board Chair at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 04 , 2004, in the Library Meeting Room of the
Allen Public Library, 2 Allen Civic Plaza, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
Items discussed in the preceding meeting workshop included:
• Report from Teen Advisory Board Member.
• Review Monthly Activity Report and Suggestion Box Forms.
• Status of TexShare Card Program.
• Status of NETLS Coordinator Position.
• Reviewed Allen Public Library's Annual Report to Texas State Library.
• Selected Member for Event Planning Committee.

1. Citizen's Comments.

There were no Citizen Comments.
2. Approve Minutes of the April 14, 2004, Called Meeting.
Motion: Upon a motion made by Board member Donna Vanous and a second by Board member Julia
Flinn, the Board voted (6) for and none (0) opposed to approve minutes of April 14, 2004.
3. Review Monthly Activity Report and Suggestion Box Forms.
The Board reviewed Monthly Reports and Suggestion Box Forms.
The Teen Advisory Council Member, Danielle Norris, was welcomed to the meeting.
4. Status of TexShare Card Program.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler reported that about 4 patrons have requested TexShare Cards.
5. Report on Unique Management Activity.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler gave a report on the success of the Unique Management Company,
the collection agency hired to collect materials and fines. Several thousand dollars and materials have
already been collected.
6. Update on Building Status.

The completion of the new library building has been extended to November, 2004.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler, told the board that the budget for next year has been submitted.
The Christmas Banquet will be held Friday evening, December 10, 2004 at the Hilton Inn and we
were asked to put it on our calendars.
The City Annual Reports were given to the Board.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler, reported that the Allen Public Library will not continue proctoring
exams, as we have had a few problems with them.
