Call to Order and Announce a Onorum is Present
With a quorum of the Board members present, the Regular Meeting of the Allen Public Library was called to
order by Julia Elina, Vice Chair at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 06, 2004, in the Library Meeting Room of the
Allen Public Library, 2 Allen Civic Plaza, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
Items discussed in the preceding meeting workshop included
• Review Monthly Activity Report and Suggestion Box Forms.
• Review Courtyard Plan.
• Discussion Regarding Policy for use of Civic Auditorium.
• Review Summer Programs.
• Upcoming NETLS Meeting.

Approve Minutes of the June 01, 2004, Regular Meeting.

Motion Upon a motion made by Board member Donald Wing and a second by Board member Jo Long,
the Board voted (6) for and none (0) opposed to approve minutes of June 01, 2004.
3. Review Monthly Activity Report and Suggestion Box Forms.
The Board reviewed Monthly Activity Reports and Suggestion Box Fortes were read.
4. Update on NETLS.
Library Director, Barbara Buehler reported to the Library Board on the NETLS meeting. She reported
the following:
Debra Gibson has been announced as the new NETLS Coordinator.
A library may become licensed to show movies. Allen Public Library will seek such licensing.
• A grant has been given to teach library personnel about health reference research. Allen Public
hopes to take advantage of this grant.
• Ruth Pringle was elected to the NETLS Advisory Board.
5. Consider Auditorium Use Policy.
The board discussed the Use Policy of the new auditorium and outlined the following as a guide for
setting up the policy,
• Purpose
• Hours of operation
• Housekeeping guidelines
Cost
Liability Insurance
• Deposit
• Priority List — That is who takes precedence over others.
6. Other Business
Board member, John Ross thanked the board for their concern and help when he fell in the library
parking lot after the meeting last month.
No report was given by the Friends this month.

Motion: Upon a motion made by Board member Donna Vanous and a second by Board member
Donald Wing, the board voted (6) for and none (0) oppose to adjourn the board meeting at 9:05.
