CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
September 2, 1965
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen-- Jimmy Gantt, Dan Strong, R.B. Whisenant and
Billy Joe Enloe.
Absent : Alderman Ken Posey.
Minutes of former meeting read and approved.
C.A. Cass, B.B. Doggett, W.D. Prince, Ronald Vaughn and O.L. Tallant
were present to discuss with the Council, the possibility of having
Ellis Street repaired. Jimmy Gantt suggested that we get a price on
repairing this street and also check on how much the city can spend at
this time on street repiars.
Bills presented to the council to be read and approved. Motion by
Jimmy Gantt to pay bills. Seconded by Dan Strong. Ayes 4--noes none.
Letter from Texas Highway Department read by Mayor Jones which states
that our highway population sign will be changed to 1342 population.
Water line to the Shell Oil Company property was discussed. Motion
by R.B. Whisenant to give the contract on the 8" line to Eugene
Holmes. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Ayes 4--noes none.
Mr. Skiles, our city engineer will ask Uvalde Constrction Co. to
open ditches on South 3rd East, east of East Ave. C. South.
Mr. W.E. Ford was present in regard to a permit for a car wash on
highway 2170--part of lot 4, block 8, Whisenant Addition.
Motion by Dan Strong to give Mr. Ford a permit on this "Car Wash".
Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed. Ayes 4--noes none.
Motion by R.B. Whisenant that we issue no more permits in the Whis.
Estates until all agreements have been met on repairs of sewer line
dams. Seconded by Jimmy Gantt. Motion passed--Ayes 4, noes none.
