I. The meeting was called to order by Vice -Chair John Ross at 7:30 p.m. Present were Ruth
Pringle, Jo Long, Marybeth Bonczek and Ross; staff Barbara Buehler was also present. The
meeting was adjourned so that the Board members could attend the Young Writer's reception in
the library meeting room. Members Cal Calvin and Donna Various arrived and joined the group
as the other Board members traveled to the meeting room Visitor Jean Chastain was also
present.
II. The Board meeting was reconvened at 8:25 p.m. As there are two new appointees to the Board,
Ruth Pringle and Jo Long, introductions were made.
III. Minutes from the September 5, 2000 meeting were approved as read
IV. New officers were elected for the year as follows:
Chair: Donna Various
Vice -chair: Cal Calvin
Secretary Marybeth Bonczek
V. Barbara Buehler informed the Board of upcoming dates of significance: The Open House and
Dedication of City Hall on Friday, October 27 from 4-6 p.m. and the annual Boards and
Commissions Dinner on Wednesday, November 29th at EI Dorado Country Club. Cal Clavin
informed the Board of the Chamber's special holiday lights display that will take place in
December over a 2 -week period. It will be sponsored by various corporations and businesses
and will attract folks from the metroplex to Allen. The Board was also reminded of the Friends'
membership event, A Chocolate Orgy, on Wednesday, October 18th in the library meeting room.
VI. The meeting was adjourned at 9 10 p.m.
