L The December 5, 1995 regular meeting of the Allen Library Board was called to order
at 7:30 p.m. by Board Chair, Fritz Dietrich. Members present were Julie Wilmoth,
Eric Liepins, Donna Vanous, Carl Williams and Sharon Curtis. Also present was
Library Director Barbara Buehler.
It. The minutes from the November 7, 1995 meeting were reviewed. A motion was made
by Donna Various and seconded by Eric Liepins for approval of the minutes.
III. Barbara Buehler passed out the November statistical summary for review, as well as
items from the suggestion box. Foot traffic was down in November 1995 compared to
1994 but the number of items checked out increased.
IV. The NETLS General Membership Meeting is scheduled for December 12, 1995 in
Garland. Julie Wilmoth, Allen Lay Representative, and Fritz Dietrich, alternate, will
plan to attend with Barbara Buehler. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
V. The Quarterly Report from the Finance Director's office on status of library acquisition
fund was distributed. The fund balance as of September 30, 1995 is $319,353.65.
VL Status of CIP projects
A. Furniture is complete. Shelving still needs a few additional pieces.
B Automated System - We recently upgraded our system with Plano. In
addition, Plano is asking for more money
C Automatic Doors - Bids will be opened next week.
VII. Barbara Buehler distributed and reviewed the Annual Report sent to the Texas State
Library
V[II. Persomel Matters. There are two staff vacancies - one is a children's clerk, 30 hours a
week and the other is a 20 hour part time clerk.
IX. Barbara Buehler distributed the Texas Library Association forms for Board Members
to complete and return.
Because the AISD holiday period will still be in session, the Board decided not to meet
in January
!, X. A motion was made by Eric Liepins and seconded by Donna Vinous to adjourn at 8:55
p.m.
