Min - Library Board - 1996 - 04/02 - RegularMINUTES ALLEN PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD APRD, 2, 19% ALLEN PUBLIC LIBRARY TWO ALLEN CMC PLAZA ALLEN, TX 75013 I. The April 2, 1996 regular meeting of the Allen Library Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Board Chair, Fritz Dietrich. Members present were Julie Wilmoth, Eric Liepins, doma Vamus, and Sharon Curtis. Also present was Library Director Barbara Buehler and City Engineer George Connor. U. City Engineer George Conor presented information regarding city offices. The council has looked at several options and has decided they need to move their chambers to the Library Meeting Room. They will wait to move until after the library's summer reading program is over. The library board toured the meeting room to view the proposed layout and George Connor also led a group around the existing Council chambers to compare the size and lay -out. ID. The minutes from the March 5, 1996 meeting were reviewed. Dora Vanous suggested the minutes I include that the topic of the NETLS meeting was "fundraising." Sharon Curtis moved and Eric Liepins seconded for approval of the minutes as corrected. IV. The monthly statistical report/suggestion box review. Barbara passed out the March statistical summary for review, as well as items from the suggestion box. An increase in foot traffic and the total items checked out were noted. Suggestion box items were read and discussed. V. Planning for April 4 Council Meeting. Library Board Chair Fria Dietrich will make a presentation to the City Council regarding the library board's concerns about the council's move to the Library Meeting Room. Other Library Board members are encouraged to attend the council meeting. VI. Other Business. A representative from Bloodcare would like to come speak to the library board at the next meeting so Barbam will arrange that. Barbara also reported that she attended the Public Library Association National Conference in Portland, OR last week and shared information about that conference with the board members. The board also discussed the possibility of a combination high school/city public library for Allen as has been discussed by the High School for the Future committee. Barham serves on that committee and will continue to provide information in that regard. VD. A motion was made by Donna Vmous and seconded by Sharon Curtis to adjourn at 9:03 p.m. I
