The December 3, 1996 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by
Bond Chair Fritz Dietrich Members present were John Ross, Cal Williams, Frank Snidow,
Donna Vanous, Julie Wihnoth and Sharon Curtis. Also present were Library Director Barbara
Buehler and Friends officers, Marian Christman and Gloria LaRovere.
II. Approve minutes of November 11, 1996 joint meeting with Parks Board - Cart Williams moved
and Donna Various seconded for approval of the minutes as read. Motion carried.
III. Homework Center presentation - Norma White from the City of Plano Harrington Library
presented information to the board regarding the Homework Center that has been implemented
at Harrington. She explained how and when it started, how it is staffed (volunteers and paid
staff), the hours of operation, how many students are enrolled, etc.
IV. NETLS Geographic Meeting - John Ross gave a report on the November NETLS meeting. John
VII. Other Business - Gloria LaRovere gave a Friends of the Library update. She reminded everyone
of the holiday bow program and reported that there will he a musical program in January.
Barbara Buehler reminded the Board of the December 10 NETLS meeting to be held in Tyler
and the City Boards and Commissions Dinner also to be held on December 10.
VIII. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

reported that the NETLS budget was presented with changes and modification.
V. Quarterly Financial Report - The fund balance as of September 30, 1996 is $264,053. 11.
V1. Annual Report to The Texas State Library - Barbara Buehler submitted the Annual Report for
Board Chair Fritz Dietrich to sign
VII. Other Business - Gloria LaRovere gave a Friends of the Library update. She reminded everyone
