1. The February 4, 1997 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7,40 p.m. by
Board Chair Fritz Dietrich. Members present were John Ross, Dome Vanous, Carl Williams.
and Frank Snidow. Also present were Library Director Barbara Buehler, Friends of the Library
member Debbie Vavra, and an interested citizen.
II. John Ross moved to approve the minutes of the January 7, 1997 meeting and Dona Various
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
III. The Board reviewed the draft of the community survey and made recommendations to Tom
Keener with Community Access for additional input.
IN. The Board reviewed the Library policy as it applies to the use of the Internet, a new service to
be offered by the Allen Public Library. The Board agreed upon using a sign-up sheet to help
ensure all patrons have access to the service. The board also recommended posting a disclaimer
above the computer terminals regarding the use of the Internet.
V. Debbie Vavra reported on the activities of the Friends of the Library. She also pointed out that
the Friends of the Library elections will be held at the April Friends meeting.
VI. Fritz Dietrich reported on the meeting between the city council and the various city boards and
committees. Fritz stressed to the council the importance of the construction of the second floor
of the library and the need for additional copies of children's book series. Cut Williams
accepted the appointment to replace Julie Wilmoth as Library Board Secretary
