The April 1, 1997 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 735 p.m. by
board chair Fritz Dietrich. Members present were John Ross, Donna Various, Frank Snidow, and
Carl Williams Also present was Library Director, Barbara Buehler, Library Board appointee,
Rhonda Gnggs; and Friends of the Library members, Debbie Vavra and Wilma Smith

John Ross moved to approve the minutes of the March 4, 1997 meeting and Frank Smdow
seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Fritz Dietrich read the comments and suggestions from the suggestion box and the nems were
discussed by the members present.
IV.
Barbara Buehler reported that the Services Standing Subcommittee had approved the Internet use
policy with only minor modifications Additional changes were recommended by the Library
Board for council review
V.
Plans and ideas for a celebration recognizing the thirtieth anniversary of the Allen Public Library
were discussed. Barbara Buehler has arranged for a Infant display from the Texas Institute
of Cultures and has invited the elementary schools to schedule field trips. The Friends of the
Library will have book bags for sale and will provide 5.000 refrigerator magnets to be given
away. Other ideas and suggestions were considered for future action

a. The Friends of the Library will elect new officers at the next meeting
b. Rhonda Griggs has been appointed to the Library Board and will be mom -in at a later date.
c. Baibara Buehler reported on the current staffing for the Library

Donna Various moved to adjourn and the motion was seconded by Frank Snidow Motion canned
