SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

I. The May 20, 1997 special called meeting of the Allen Public Library Board was
called to order at 7 35 p m by Board Chair, Fritz Dietrich Members present were
John Ross, Frank Snidow, and Carl Williams. Donna Vanous and Rhonda Grigg
arrived late as notified. Also present was Library Director, Barbara Buehler.
II. The Board reviewed the findings from the library survey Barbara Buehler stated
that she would try to find results of comparable libraries for comparison. The items
of concern were
• overwhelming requests for additional hours
• replacement of worn books and addition of new books
C• lack of awareness of many of the services offered by the library
■`I • hghting in the parking lot
• difficult access to the library
Barbara Buehler agreed to provide cost estimates for additional staff to support
increased hours for Board review at the June meeting. An executive summary
detailing the Board's recommendations will be presented to the City Council.
