L The July 1, 1997 Allen Public Lirbmy Board meeting was called to order a 7*45 p.m. by Board
Chairperson, Fritz Dietrich. Members present were Dome Various, Frank Smdow, and Rhonda
Grigg. Also present was Library Director Barbara Buehler, and Friends of the Library member,
Debbie Vivra.
II. The Board recessed to the Young Author's Reception in the meeting room.
III. The Board reconvened in the conference room at 8:15 p.m.
IV. Minutes of the August 19,1997 Regular Board Session were verbally reviewed and approved as
amended.
V. Suggestion box forms were reviewed by the Board. No Board action was required in response to
the suggestions The Monthly Statistics Report was not available for review due to a Library
Personnel issue
VL R. Grigg gave the Board an update on the County Commissioner's budget hearing at which a
request for additional funding for area libranes was denied.
VIL The Board considered a proposal for a revised Fines/Fees structure to support an additional
evening of Library operation each week. The five items in the proposal included increased daily
fines, no changes to late fees for overdue video material, increased maximum overdue fees for
nonchildren items, increased processing foes for lost or damaged items, and increased fees for
repairs to damaged items. All items were approved for recommendation to the City Council by a
consensus of the Library Board.
VIII. D Varna updated the Board on plans for the 30' anniversary celebration and the Lam Bush
Reception.
DL D. vanous moved to adjourn the meeting. F Snidow seconded the motion. The meeting was
ajoumed at 9:30 p.m.
