The October 7, 1997 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by
Board Chairperson, Fritz Dietrich Members present wen Donna Various, Rhonda Grigg, and
MaryVail-Grube Also present was Library Director Barbara Buehler, and Friends of the
Library member, Wilma Smith.
IL the Board reviewed the minutes of the September 2, 1997 meeting. D. Various moved to approve
the minutes. Rhonda Grigg seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
IU. The Board reviewed both the monthly and the annual statistic reports for the library.
Contributions to the Suggestion Box were reviewed. No new actions were initiated.
IV. B. Buehler reported highlights from the NETLS meeting she had attended in Maba* Texas on
October 1, 1997 Based on information obtained at the meeting, the Alien Library may be able to
secure discounts on phone and fax lines in addition to the discounts received for the Internet
service The discounts an substantial, but must be reapplied for each year
V. Final plans for the Library's 30'^ Anniversary Celebration were presented and discussed.
VL In Other Business, the Election of Officers is scheduled to occur during the November 4, 1997
meeting.
VIL D. Various moved to adjourn the meeting. M. Vail -Grube seconded the motion. The meeting
was adjourned at 8.30 p.m.
