The May 1998 Allen Public Library Board meeting was called to order at 7'35 p.m, by Board
Chairperson, Donna Vanous. Members present were John Ross, Joe Defenderfer, Frank Snidow,
Mary Vail-Gmbe, and Dee Teel. Rhonda Grigg arrived late due to a schedule conflict Also
present were Library Director, Barbara Buehler and Friends of the Library President, Suzette
Davis.
D. The Board reviewed the minutes of the April 7, 1998 meeting. Mary Val -Grube moved to
approve the minutes. F Smdow seconded the motion Motion carried.
IM F Snidow nominated D. Various to the position of Board Chairman. J Ross seconded the
motion. Motion unanimously carried
IV. The city's new Public Information Officer, Katherine Pomet, was introduced to the Board and
discussed various publicity opportunities for the library including newspaper articles, city's
municipal newsletter, cable channel, web page and water bill mailings.
V. Suggestions received by the Library were reviewed by the Board. The suggestions were being
addressed by Library staff. The statistical report for April 1997/1998 was reviewed by the Board.
A slight downturn in usage was noted and will be continued to be monitored.
VL B. Buehler presented the Board with a final draft of the Funds Solicitation Plan for Board
comment.
VIL B. Buehler provided the Board with an overview of the summer youth programs
VIIL There were no other items of interest.
DL R. Grigg moved to adjourn this session of the Library Board. M. Vail -Grube seconded the
motion. Motion carried. The Board adjourned at 9:05 p.m
