The regular meeting of the Allen Public Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by
Board Chairperson Donna Vanous. Members present were Various, Joe Defenderfer, Frenh Sddow, Mary
Vail-Gmbe, Dee Teel, John Ross and Rhonda Grigg. Also present were Library Director Barbara Buehler
and Friends of the Library representative Suzette Davis
IL The meeting was adjourned to the Young Author's Reception in Council Chambers.
UL Meeting reconvened at 8:10 p.m. in the conference room.
IV. The Board approved the minutes of the August 4, 1998 meeting as amended.
V. Activity report and suggestion box forms were reviewed. All usage figures were up over the previous
year None of the suggestions required further action
VL Barbam Buehler reported that the County Commissioners had approved a funding increase for county
libraries from $65,000 to $135,000. Allen's portion will increase from approximately $7,500 to $15,000
VIL The status of the Fiscal Year 1998-1999 budget process was discussed along with the possibility that 4B
sales tax moneys may be made available to the library. Copies of the budget are to be mailed to Board
members
VID. Copies of the seven proposals received for the conceptual design phase of the library expansion were
distributed to each Board member for evaluation along with evaluation criteria guidelines. A special
meeting to tabulate these evaluations was set for September 15 at 7:30 p.m.
