MINUTES
ALLEN PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
NOVEMBER 03, 1995

I. The regular meeting of the Allen Public Board meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by
Board Chairperson Donna Vanous. Members present were Vanous, Joe Defenderfer, Frank
Smdow, Mary Vail -Grube and Rhonda Grigg Also present were Library Director Barbara
Buehler and a Friends of the Library representative Board members John Ross and Dee Teel were
absent
If. The Board approved the minutes of the October 13, 1998 meeting as corrected.
III. New Board Officers were elected by the members present. D Vanous will serve as Chairperson, J
Ross will serve as Vice -Chairperson and M. Vail-Gmbe will serve as Secretary
IV. The Board unanimously agreed to dispense with the formal reading of the Ordinance
The statistical reports for library usage and the comments received during the previous month were
reviewed. No formal action was required by the Board.
VL B Buehler reported on the NETLS quarterly meeting. NETLS may adopt new standards for
membership in their organization B Buehler will forward copies of proposed standards to the
board members for their review If the Board supports the effort, they may host a breakfast
meeting in January with local representatives to rally additional support for the initiative.
VIL The current status of library expansion plans were reviewed. A formal recommendation for the
expansion project's architect will be submitted during the next city council meeting
VIII. The Board discussed the current stains of the Funds Solicitation project.
IX. In Other Business, the Board discussed the annual Bows for Books project.
X. The Library Board meeting adjourned at 9 15 p in.
