Min - City Council - 1965 - 12/06 - Special CalledSPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS December 6, 1965 Present: Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen: Jimmy Gantt, Dan Strong, Ken Posey, Bill Enloe, Aldermen Absent : R. B. Whisenant. A special meeting was called by Mayor Gentry T. Jones, in response to an emergency existing by the local boys in disturbance of peace. Mayor Gentry T. Jones asked the City Council to except his resignation as the City Judge, and to elect Mr. James Caton of Wiley, Texas, to fill this position, who is well acquainted with the laws of a city as well as the state laws . Mr. James Caton said that the only way he could serve the Court and the people with justice to all causes was for him to be placed on salary of $25.00 per day, each day court is in session rather than on commission basis. Motion by Mr. Ken Posey was made to except resignation of Mayor Gentry T. Jones as City Judge to become effective immediately. Billy Joe Enloe second the motion and the motion was unamious. Mayor Gentry T. Jones then asked for a motion to elect Mr. James Caton as the new City Judge. This motion was made by Billy Joe Enloe and second by Dan Strong. Mr. James Caton suggested that at anytime the Concil fell the situation is well in hand that the office can be terminated at the request of the Council. Meeting adjourned.
