Min - City Council - 1967 - 02/16 - RegularREGULAR MEETING CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN February 16, 1967 Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones Aldermen:. Dan Strong, Billy J. Enloe, R. B. Whisenant, (late) Zack Robinson. Absent : Ken Posey Ward Paxton, Rev. Raymon Womack, John Enloe, and Walter Hicks, Jr., Engineer, T.H. Ereckson, President School Board. Mayor Jones made a report on his contact of Congressman Ray Roberts, and states nothing was available at this time to purchase property for city hall. Mr. Jones also stated that the property could not be bought with bond money. Motion- by Billy J. Enloe to pay the bill presented by the secretary. Second- by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 3, noes 0. Rev. Raymond Wommack and Ward Paxton was here to discuss the poss- ibility of buying the Methodist Church Property. Mayor Jones appointed the following to work on the buying of the church property. Zack Robinson, Dan Strong, and Bill Enloe. T. H. Ereckson was here from the school board to discuss the conn- ection of the water for the school building that is being built on South Second East. Mayor Jones recommended the city pay 50% of the cost of running the water line from the alley on West side of the school property, and run to the East side of the old school building. Motion- by Dan Strong to pay 50% of line and tap of said water line . Second- by Billy J. Enloe, motion passed, ayes 4, noes 0. Discussion of the street work on East Avenue AA and South Third East, by Mr. Hicks and the council, Mr. Hicks is to bring the contractor before the council to figure a settlement. Discussion on fixing the street along the Northside of the cemetary, to keep water from going into the buildings, located East of the street. There was a short discussion on the deliquent taxes. Motion- by Dan Strong that the city purchase the Electric Eel Model 325. (sewer machine) . Second- by R. B.Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 3 , noes 1 (ZR) . (Dog ordinance and Pool hall ordinances are in the possession of the city councilmen) Meeting adjourned . Minutes read and approved this the 2 day of March 1967.
