CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
March 2, 1967
Present : AIdermen, Ken Posey, Dan Strong, Zack Robinson, R. B.
Whisenant. Walter Hicks, Jr. Eng.
Absent : Billy Joe Enloe.
Mayor Gentry Jones, absent due to illness.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem, R. B. Whisenant.
Minutes read and approved from last meeting.
Motion : by Dan Strong to pay bills presented by City Secretary.
Second : by Ken Posey, motion passed, ayes 3 , noes 0.
Mr. Hicks told the council what had been done on the street. Mr.
Hicks, felt the contractor, Joe Williams & Sons, had complied with
his contract. Cost of labor and material on this job as prepaired
by Wisenbaker, Fix and Associates is $3,306.80.
Motion : by Zack Robinson that we pay Joe Williams & Son for the
street work.
Second : by Dan Strong, motion passed, ayes 3 noes 0.
Mr. Hicks showed the council a drawing of South Third Street East,
and what would have to be done to correct the flow of water.
Motion: by Ken Posey to table the discussion on the above street
repairs .
Second : by Dan Strong, motion passed, ayes 3 noes 0.
Mr. Hicks told the council he would have plans on sewer out fall line
at the regular meeting of April 6, 1967.
The council wants to invite our city attorney, Mr. Alex Orr to our
next meeting, March 16, 1967, to discuss, city judge, dedicated
streets, licenses on businesses in city, prisoners brought to McKinney,
and election places.
Motion : by Ken Posey to have Mr. Alex Orr write Pool Hall Ordinance
as amended.
Second : by Dan Strong, motion passed, ayes 3, noes 0.
Dan Strong reported his findings from the banks and Savings & Loan
company for money to purchase the First Methodist Church property,
but none seemed favorable.
Motion : by Zack Robinson that we inform the First Methodist Church
the city is unable to purchase the property at this time. (write
letter to Mr. Gant)
