April 20, 1967
Present : Gentry T. Jones, Mayor
Aldermen : Zack Robinson, R. B. Whisenant, Roy Ewen,
J. D. Smith, & Mack Holloway.
Engineers : Walter Hicks, Jr.
Citizens : Jerry Carpenter and J. F.West
Minutes from last meeting was read and approved.
Motion by : R. B.Whisenant to take bids on sewer for City of
Allen, Contract #845 and #846.
Second by : Roy Ewen, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
Bids will appear in the Daily Courier Gazette April 24th, May 1st,
and May 8th, 1967. Texas Contractor will also carry the bids on
the sewer for the City of Allen. Opening day for bids will be
May 25, 1967 at 7:30 PM. , at the City Hall, Allen, Texas.
Motion by Zack Robinson to pay Engineers Wisenbaker, Fix, and
Associates, $17,220.00 to cover engineering fee to date.
Second by : R. B. Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
Motion by Zack Robinson to pay bills presented by city secretary.
Second by J. D. Smith, motion passed, ayes 5 noes , 0.
Jerry Carpenter was here to ask the city to fix a hose rack for
the Fire Department.
Motion by R. B.Whisenant to buy tubing for hose rack.
Second by J. D.Smith, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
Jerry Carpenter asked to change the locks on back door where the
fire trucks are kept.
Motion by J. D. Smith to change locks as requested by the Fire
Department .
Second by Roy Ewen, motion passed, ayes 5,n oes 0.
Jerry is to check on a fogging machine for use in the city to
control mosquetoes.
Mayor Jones asked if the council has anything to say about the
Police service for the city. The policeman were asked to leave
parking lights on when parked.
Motion by R. B.Whisenant to approve Mr. Coursey as an officer,
(Billy D.) and have his bond approved.
Second by J. D. Smith, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
Motion by J. D. Smith to pay Safety & Enforement Supply Company
$175.00 for radar for police.
Second by R. B.Whisenant, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
Mayor Jones suggested a letter be written to the State/Department
for radar signs on Farm to Market Road 2170 East and West of
Allen and State Hwy. 5 North and South, and place them at the
city limit signs. Also ask the state to place a no U turn
sign at 2170 and Hwy. #5.
Check with Alex Orr on the fence ordinance, not to build a fence
more than 2 ft. high in front of houses .
Motion by J. D. Smith to pay Mr. Jones for his services as judge,
aid to pay him for services rendered in February, March, and
April.
Second by Mack Holloway, motion passed, ayes 5, noes 0.
