July 6, 1967
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones - Engineer Walter Hicks
Aldermen: Zack Robinson, Mack Holoway, J. D. Smith, & Roy Ewen.
Absent : R. B. Whisenant
Meeting called to order by Mayor Jones, minutes from the last
meeting read and approved.
Bills were presented and read by Zack Robinson.
Motion by J. D. Smith to pay bill presented to council.
Second by Mack Holloway, motion passed, ayes 4, noes o.
Policeman Martin discussed the advantage of W. E. Fowler being
placed on Police Reserve to better inform and work with
our people and to have an organization to better acquaint
the people with law enforcement. Zack Robinson is to
contact Mr. Fowler and discuss the issue with him.
Motion by Roy Ewen to purchase red light for police car for $39.95.
Second by Mack Holloway, motion passed,ayes 5, noes o.
Motion by Roy Ewen to pay fire department $19.95 for red light for
police car.
Second by Zack Robinson, motion passed, ayes 4, noes 0.
Mr. Hicks, our engineer explained the signing of contract #845 and
#846, Sewer Project, which was to be done by the Mayor.
Motion by Zack Robinson to give Mayor Jones authority to
sign sewer contract.
Second by J. D. Smith, motion passed, ayes 4, noes 0.
Mr. Hicks, talked to the council about the new well and felt the
figures would be ready by next council meeting.
The council and Mr. Hicks discussed the new well to
great length and felt this was the best move for the City
of Allen at this time. Lavon Water Project was also
discussed and Mr. Hicks felt at this time the city was
in no position to go to Lavon for water.
Discussion on the city buying eight to ten acres of land for the new
well and use 1/2 acre for well and rest for ball diamonds,
and park use. This property being East of town on South
side of road .
Discussion about our Police department.
