Min - Animal Shelter Advisory Committee - 2019 - 08/28 - Regular ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 28,2019 Present: Absent: Deborah Michnick, Chair Robin Sedlacek, City Council Liaison Pamela Ackerman,Vice-Chair Sharyn King Gail Smallin, Secretary Dr. Alan Coffman Call to Order With a quorum of the Board members present,the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee was called to order by Chair Michnick at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday,August 28, 2019, at the Animal Shelter Conference Room located in the Allen Animal Shelter, 707 S Allen Heights Drive,Allen,Texas 75002. 1. Approve Minutes of the March 27,2019 Regular Meeting. The minutes were approved by the acclamation of the board. 2. Update on adoptable kennel floor replacement warranty issue and HVAC issues. Floors in adoptable kennels have been repaired and another coat will be installed in the dog isolation room August 29, 2019. A new HVAC unit was installed for the adoptable room. 3. Update on PetHub registration tags and PetData on-line registration implementation. On-line registration with PetData continues,with an increase in registrations since implemented. PetData is now sending past due notices. Since implementation,there has been an increase of donations to the shelter. 4. Update on the 2019 Clear the Shelters campaign. The campaign on August 17 was very successful. Daily occupancy in 2019 has averaged 45 animals, and although there was an increase in surrenders prior to the event, all cats were adopted and only three(3)dogs remained after the campaign. 5. Update on coyote/bobcat concerns. Citizens of Allen may now report bobcat/coyote sightings on-line using the Online Help Desk.The data will help Animal Control Staff to pinpoint clusters and families to help in educating residents in target areas. The wild animals will not be removed from their natural habitat, but reports of sick, injured or aggressive wildlife will be investigated by staff. 6. Update on statistics from 2017,2018 and 2019 up to date. Statistics for the entire years of 2017 and 2018 and up to July 2019 indicate that surrenders,calls for service and daily occupancy are increasing. City registrations and donations are also on track to exceed previous year's statistics. ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 28,2019 PAGE 2 7. Discuss and Make a Recommendation to the City Council regarding Proposed Revisions to Chapter 3,Animals and Fowl,of the Code of Ordinances and/or Standard Operating Procedures. Standard Operating Procedures for the shelter have been completed and are being reviewed by Legal. No revisions are being requested to Chapter 3. 8. Discuss Upcoming Events September 2019-Tinkers&Thinkers, Fall Festival,Allen CERT and Educator's Expo October 2019-Howl-o-ween Barkin'Bash November 2019—Allen Recycles Day Adjournment MOTION: Upon a motion made by Chair Michnick and a second by Dr. Coffman, the Board voted Four (4) for and none (0) opposed to adjourn the Regular Meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory 111 Committee at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday,August 28, 2019.
