Mayor Gentry T. Jones - absent
Aldermen present : B.B. Whisenant, J .D. Smith, Mack Holloway
and LeRoy Ewen. Mrs Ruth Pringle was also present .
Meeting called to order by Mayor Pro-Tem R.B. Whisenant.
Mrs Pringle read the Ordinance and BY-LAWS for a public
Library and discussed them with the City Council.
Mr. Ewen gave a report on the Street work , what had been
done and some of the things that needed too be done.
Discussions : about the Fire Marshall.
: about some-one too oversee the Street work.
: about the Police reporting when on duty.
: about buying a Police Car for the City of Allem.
The Council desided that a letter of request to the City
Police to report to the Mayor each night when they go on duty,
Since this policy has-not been followed it is hard for the Mayor or
City Councelmen to know who is on duty or how to get in tuch with
the Police.
Motion by J .D. Smith, for LeRoy Ewen too supervise and in-
spect the street work that was authorized by the Councle in a regular
meeting of Octorber 19th 1967. Motion was second by Mack Holloway,
Motion passed Ayes 3 noes none.
Motion by J.D.Smith that we run a add in the Courier - Gazette
for bids on a new car for the City, this car is to be SIX cylinder -
4 door full size car- bids too be opened at the next regular meeting
of November 16, 1967. Motion second by Mack Holloway
Motion passed ayes 3 - noes 0.
Motion : By J .D. Smith to pay the bills
Motion : Second by LeRoy Ewen
Motion passed ayes 3- noes 0.
