DECEMBER 7th 1967
Meeting called to order by Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen present as follows : R.B. Whisenant, LeRoy Ewen, Mack
Holloway and J.D. Smith. Alex Orr our City attorney was also
present.
Representatives from JAN-MAR DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, INC. to
discuss a contract with the City Officials on a new development.
Mrs Ruth Pringle presented an ORDINANCE for the Councils
Approval, creating A PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE CITY OF ALLEN, TEXAS
Motion : by LeRoy Ewen that the Library Ordinance be signed
by Mayor Gentry T. Jones and the City Secy„ Motion second by
J .D. Smith. Motion passed ayes 4 - noes 0.
After a study and deliberation on the contract with JAN-MAR
DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, INC., A motion was made by LeRoy Ewen that
the said contract be passed and approved. Motion second by J.D.
Smith, motion passed -for 3- Noes none - one obstained RBW .
Fire-works : Motion by LeRoy Ewen to let Steve Goodman sell
Fireworks inside the City limits . Motion was second by J.D. Smith
motion passed ayes 4 - noes 0 .
Motion by J .D. Smith too pay bills presented by the city Sec'y.
second by Mack Holloway, motion passed ayes 4 - noes 0.
An Ordinance amending and changing a franchise ordinance
enacted by the City of Allen was read and approved at a regular
meeting of December 7th 1967 with all council members present .
Motion : by LeRoy Ewen for the Mayor and City Secly, too sign
said Ordinance with the Lone Star Gas Company. a Motion second
by J.D. Smith. Motion passed ayes 4 noes 0 ,
The Council asked for an Ordinance amending Ordinance # 28
with reference too speed limit SIGNS along First Street from
East Ave C too West Ave. C.
