DECEMBER 21th 1967
Present : Mayor Gentry T. Jones
Aldermen : R.B . Whisenant, Mack Holloway,
J .D. Smith and LeRoy Ewen
Corrections of former minutes of Dec. 7th 1967 were made.
The Council discussed the appointment of some-one to serve on
the Council for the rest of this term. Mr. Robert Lowman was rec-
ommended for the appointment .
Motion was made by J.D. Smith that the Council appoint Mr.
Robert Lowman to serve out the unexpired term of Mr Zack Robertson
which ends in April of 1968. Motion aws second by Mr. Mack
Holloway. Motion passed ayes (LE) four noes (0) none.
Discussion: about curbing on the south and east side of the
First Christian Church was discussed with David Worden (pastor)
the council expressed their willeness to pay for (2) oneRhalf of the
cost of the Curbing if the Church would pay (2) one-half.
Discussion : about our day-time Police.
Motion: by LeRoy Ewen to termate the Day Police (Mr Pherigo)
as of January 1st. 1968. Motion was second by Mack Holloway.
Motion passed ayes (4) four noes (0) none.
Mr. R.R. Whisenant, due to busisness reasons is moving to4rvin .'
Texas and ask the City Council to accept his RESIGNATION at this
Regular Meeting of December 21st. 1967.
Motion : by J .D. Smith that the Resignation offered by Mr. SASE
Whisenant be accepted with a greed deal of regret. Motion was
second by LeRoy Ewen. Motion passed ayes (LE)four noes (0) none.
The Mayor and City Council expressed to Mr. Whisenant their
appreciation for the work he has helped to accomplish during his
term of office as Alderman, and the Mayor and Council will miss
him very much.
