REGULAR MEETING
City Council, City of Allen, Allen, Texas
Mayor Gentry T. Jones absent.
Aldermen present : LeRoy Ewen, Mack Holloway, Robert Lowman and
J .D. Smith.
Discussions : On the Incorporation of the Town of Parker, which
included part of the City Limits of the City of Allen.
Also discussed the appointment of another Council-man to replace
the unexpired term of Mr. R.R. Whisenant, Mr. Dan Strong was re-
commended to fill the vacancy made by Mr. Whisenant 's resignation.
Motion by Robert Lowman that the Council appoint Mr. Dan Strong
to fill the unexpired TERM of Mr. R.B. Whisenant. Motion second by
Mack Holloway. Motion passed ayes (4) , noes (0) none,
Mr Dan Strong was given the OATH OF OFFICE by the City Secretary
Mr. J.D. Smith offers his resignation as Alderman, as of February
15th 1968. Mr Smith is resigning due to the fact he has a JOB which
will-not allow him to serve as a Council-man and work at the same time.
Motion by Mack Holloway that the Council accept the RESIGNATION offerd
by Mr. Smith. Motion second by Robert Lowman. Motion passed ayes 4-noes
none.
Discussion: on the City 1 per cent (1%) sales Tax for the City of
Allen. This must be published 21 days before date of election in local
paper,
Motion by Robert Lowman too call an ELECTION on the 1% ( One percent)
SALES TAX for the City of Allen, said Election too be held on the 6th
Day of April, 1968. Motion second by Dan Strong. Motion passed ayes
(4) four-- noes (0) none.
Mr. Lowman wants a letter to the public, informing them regarding
the (1%) one per-cent Sales Tax.
Motion by Mr. Lowman to pay the bills .
Motion second by Mack Holloway.
Motion passed ayes (4) four--noes (0) none.
David Worden talked with the Council some about a Planing Commission,
David also asked if the City had agreed to give to the Allen
Libarary ANNUALLY .
